I hope everyone had a restful weekend with lots of time for outside activities with the beautiful weather. We take our Math TAKS tomorrow and Reading TAKS on Wednesday. Just a few reminders to make sure your child is ready:
1) Get some fresh air and outside playing time tonight and tomorrow night. There is no recess or specials on TAKS days and it's a long day sitting in the classroom.
2) Eat a healthy and filling dinner tonight and tomorrow night. I read online some good brain foods include roast beef, whole grain pasta, eggs, peanut butter, salmon, and vegetables.
3) Go to sleep early. Rest up so you're not tired while taking the test.
4) Review strategies with your student for thinking through tough problems or taking brain breaks when they need them. It's okay for them to ask to use the restroom just to take a break!
5) Protein makes for a good breakfast. I will have muffins and juice both mornings, but something else that will keep them full throughout the morning would be best.
6) Give them a hug, smile, and pat on the back showing them that you believe in them and know they'll do fantastic as they get on the bus or out of the car these mornings!!!!!!
