We spent a lot of time last week working on our problem solving skills using everything we've learned this year. I am very happy with the effort I saw in everyone! We also finished reading the Island of the Blue Dolphins. I think I can speak for all of the students when I say they loved the book!!! On a daily basis, Mrs. Dzialo and I heard, "Can we pleeeease just read one more chapter???" It was thoroughly enjoyable to teach reading each day because of everyones enthusiasm!
-- Play outside the night before the test.
-- Eat a filling and nutritious dinner the night before the test.
-- Remember that you've worked hard this year and now is the time to show it.
-- Show your work for every math problem (try to get 4 points on each question) and show your evidence for every reading passage.
-- Double check your work before turning in your test.
Upcoming Events/Reminders:
- Our grade level Multiplication Bee and the Ultimate Multiplication Bee will be held on Monday. Remember that we will not only have the 2 winners from our class participate, but we will also draw 2 names and those children will have to participate against 8 other 4th grade students. We've been practicing in class so that everyone is ready, just in case their name gets chosen! I can say that our class seems to be very excited about the idea of having their name randomly chosen and having to participate!
- Be sure to keep watch over our Butterflies this weekend to see if there are any changes.
- Wednesday, May 2nd is an Early Release. School will be released at 12:45.
- Forms will soon be going home about Spring Conferences. Spring Conferences will be held for every child that is experiencing academic difficulty or based upon parent request. I will inform you to let you know if we need to meet in person or filling out the form at home will be adequate. In person conferences may be held before school, during my conference period (9:40-10:30) or at 3:00 in May.
- Friday, May 4th is Field Day. Be sure you know where your CLASS SHIRT is so you can wear it on this day! (We will also be wearing them on our Field Trip on May 10th.)
What we're learning...
Language Arts - Finishing up Island of the Blue Dolphins and beginning our project that demonstrates our Multiple Intelligences.
Math - Beginning a project using Google SketchUp for geometry and measurement review. We will be creating 3-dimensional communities!
Science - Beginning inherited traits and continuing to watch our butterflies as they go through the stages of metamorphosis.
