Let's get down to business!

It was a busy first week of 4th grade, but everyone survived! ;) We learned a lot about each other and expectations within the classroom and school. I am looking forward to a WONDERFUL year with all of you! Don't forget to occasionally ask your child if they have "filled a bucket today". And if they haven't told you what that means yet, be sure to ask!

If you haven't done so already, please fill out the Contact Form so that I can have all relevant information for any future contact.

It was great getting to know your children and I look forward to learning more about them throughout the year. There are some things that are helpful for me to know from the start, so please take a few minutes to fill out this Student Questionnaire. All answers will be kept confidential.

I know it's only August, but Parent Conferences will be held on October 10th. Please complete this Parent Conference Sign-Up as soon as you can. Times are first come, first serve. If you know at this moment you will not be able to attend on October 10th, please fill out the bottom of the form and I will contact you to set up a day that works best. (I know most of you have to know in advance when you need off work.)

If you haven't figured out yet, I'm trying to conserve paper and promote parent-teacher communication. If at any time you are unable to receive updates via e-mail or blog, please let me know and I will send them home on paper. My favorite part of electronic communication is that it can't get lost in a messy backpack, although none of your children would ever have messy backpacks. ;)

I am also still in need of a parent to sort Thursday folder materials. This person would need to come to school on Thursday in time to sort handouts and graded papers to pass out before dismissal. If you can't make it one week, all I ask is that you let me know...I won't hold it against you. The perks of this job? You get to see your child in the middle of the day! Please let me know if you're interested.

Reminders:
- Parent Orientation is on Wednesday the 31st from 6-7 in our classroom. This is the time you will find out everything you need to know about 4th grade procedures, expectations, and what your child will be learning this year.
- We are in need of snack donations for the class. Good snacks include boxes of crackers and bags of bulk cereal. Thank you in advance for any donations!

Science - safety and science tools
