Hello! This is Mrs. Dzialo and I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend with friends and family! It's back to the grind this week as we begin reviewing and preparing for the upcoming math and reading STAAR exams.
Reminders:
- Homework is being sent home Monday through Thursday. It is expected to be completed and returned. Many times, we check the homework as a class and if your child doesn't have it, they sit there without their work and then sometimes have a missing work grade. (M/W = Math, T/TH = Reading)
- Tutoring is currently taking place for math and reading (alternates based on student needs). Check the blog calendar for the most up-to-date schedule.
- Math and Reading STAAR will be held on April 24th/25th. Completing the nightly homework will help your child prepare, however, they also need to be practicing their multiplication facts and reading nightly.
- Mrs. Dzialo is still in charge this week! This is her last full week to be in charge, but after that she will still be in the classroom assisting Ms. Leining and the students until May 4th!
- We are out of snack. All donations are greatly appreciated!
- Please remind your child to study their spelling and vocabulary words every week!
What We're Learning:
Math: Transformations! What happens to a shape or object if it is reflected? translated? rotated? We will also be reviewing other math topics for the STAAR exam.
Explorer Time: Review, Review, Review! This is also a time for missing work to be completed and turned in!
Science: We are continuing in our study of plant and animal adaptations and how organisms adapt to survive in their environments. Ask your child about the blubber glove we made last week!
Social Studies: Instead of social studies this week, we will be doing extra practice and review for the STAAR exams.
Reading/Writing: Cause/Effect, Fact/Opinion, Inferencing, and other reading and writing skills will be practiced as we continue reading "Island of the Blue Dolphins". This is the students' favorite part of the day. They don't want to put the book down!

Thank you for letting me work with your child! It's been a blessing to be able to spend time with them, teach them, and learn a lot from them in return. Ms. Leining is a fabulous teacher. Both the students and I are very lucky to learn from her!
