Plan Ahead:
On Saturday, March 24th we will be having an OPTIONAL Writing Workshop from 9-11am. A note will be sent home about this when we get back from break. All 4th graders are encouraged to attend. We will be working on some editing, finishing compositions, or whatever it is that your writers think they need to practice before the test. It's more of a laid-back day to boost the confidence of your wonderful writers. Ms. Cini has also graciously offered to provide a small breakfast for all 4th graders in attendance. I would love to see ALL of your child there.
Here is the note that is going home. Please RSVP by Wednesday, March 21st.
Practice Over Break:
In order to help your child prepare even more, you can have them write for you. Here are a few choices they can write...
Personal Narrative:
- Write about a time you had fun.
- Write about a time you were surprised.
- Write about an important moment in your life.
- Write about something you will never forget.
Expository:
- Write about what makes a good vacation.
Remember that you can look at the examples I've written/modeled in class and the anchor charts we have to help your writers. Those can be found on the Writer Workshop Help link to the left. Most importantly, your children should enjoy their break and not forget everything we've learned. I advise you not to burn them out on writing because we will be working on it all week, but some practice never hurts. ;)
