☆☆ Writing STAAR ☆☆

We had a wonderful week of Writers' Workshop and I saw some amazing compositions being written. I am so proud of the little writers all of your children have become. I hope you are just as proud of them and they are just as proud of themselves! They will be able to bring those home to share next week.

Prepare for STAAR:
- Have your child PLAY PLAY PLAY the night before each test.
- Eat a filling and nutritious dinner the night before each test.
- Eat a filling a nutritious breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The cafeteria is having free breakfast for everyone these mornings! I will also supply juice and muffins for each students both mornings.
- It's okay to talk about what your child should do on the test, but be sure they get time to relax. - They have learned what they need to...now it's their time to shine!

Upcoming Events/Reminders:
- Please check your mailbox at home sometime this weekend. I sent each of your children a note I would like them to read before Tuesday.
- Saturday is the Writing Rally from 9-11am. It will be held in my portable and breakfast is being provided by Ms. Cini. Be sure you arrive promptly to pick up your child. (I have to dash off for an out of town function.) We will be finishing up any compositions from this week, having an editing relay and just working on whatever your child thinks they need help with before the test. It's very casual and student-guided.
- Monday is class shirt day!
- Report cards will be sent home Monday. Please sign and return a copy with the envelope by Thursday.
- Writing STAAR is on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Spring Festival is Saturday the 30th from 2-6pm.
- Mrs. Dzialo starts the period of her student teaching called "Total Teach", where she will be teaching all of the lessons for every subject for the next 12 days (beginning Thursday, March 29th). I will of course still be around, but she is in charge. :)
- Explorer Excellence will be held Tuesday, April 3rd at 8:40am. We would love for you to come support your child and their accomplishments for the 3rd Nine Weeks.
- Tutoring will resume Monday, April 2nd in the morning and after school. Please check the class calendar for the most up-to-date schedule. Any child is able to arrive to school for tutoring hours if they need to complete work. For tutoring kids, we will be working on problem solving (using all of the skills we have learned) and read a novel to work on reading comprehension. Please make sure you have your child attend on a regular basis so that they do not miss parts of the novel.
